Connect your wallet to BUOY.
BUOY links a Solana wallet so it can show your holdings overlaid with John's live risk feed and unlock Crew / Captain tiers by $BUOY balance. It's read-only — we never request permission to send transactions.
Phantom or another wallet
You already use Phantom (or Solflare, Backpack, hardware) and your $BUOY lives there. Two taps and you're in.

You bought $BUOY directly on pump.fun and never installed a separate wallet. You'll export your key once, then it's the same flow.

This is the fastest path. If you already see your $BUOY balance inside Phantom mobile or the Phantom browser extension, you're set.

Open BUOY in Telegram
Message @buoycoin_bot and tap the Open BUOY menu button at the bottom of the chat.

From the Home tab, tap Open Phantom
Telegram will hand off to your phone's browser and open the Phantom app. If Phantom isn't installed yet, install it from your app store first, then restart the flow.

Pick the right account, then approve
Phantom shows the wallet name at the top — if you have more than one account, tap it and pick the one that holds your $BUOY. Then tap Connect / Approve.

Read the preview card, then sign
Back in BUOY, you'll see a preview card: "This wallet would link as Captain — 57M $BUOY". If the number is wrong (0 or unexpected), tap Cancel and try a different account in Phantom. Otherwise tap Sign with Phantom.

Approve the read-only signature
Phantom opens with a "Sign Message" dialog showing BUOY's challenge text. This is not a transaction — no SOL leaves your wallet, no token permissions are granted. Just confirms ownership. Tap Sign.

You're linked.
BUOY now shows your linked wallet card with balance + tier badge. Use Refresh balance anytime you buy or sell more $BUOY — no need to unlink.
Phantom auto-picks whichever account was active last time. If you have multiple accounts and link the wrong one, just tap Unlink wallet on the linked card → switch in Phantom → re-link.
PATH B$BUOY in your pump.fun-embedded wallet
When you sign up on pump.fun without connecting an external wallet, pump.fun creates a Solana wallet inside their app (powered by Privy). That wallet has a real private key — you can take it with you. Once you do, your wallet works in Phantom and everywhere else.
You're about to export a private key. Anyone who sees that key controls every token in the wallet.
Do this on a device you trust, never paste the key into anything except Phantom (or another well-known Solana wallet), and never share it with anyone — including support staff, BUOY included. We will never ask you for it.

Install Phantom (if you haven't yet)
Get it from your app store — only from the official store, never from a third-party link. Open it and create a new wallet, or skip ahead if you already have one.

Open pump.fun and find Export Key
On pump.fun, tap your profile (top-right) → Wallet → look for Export Private Key (sometimes under a "Security" or "Advanced" section).
pump.fun will show a warning and ask you to confirm. Once you confirm, copy the long base58 string it shows.

Import into Phantom
Open Phantom mobile → hamburger menu (top-left) → Add / Connect Wallet → Import Private Key → paste the key from pump.fun. Give it a name like

Switch to the new wallet in Phantom
Tap the wallet name at the top of Phantom → pick the one you just imported. The address shown should match what you saw on pump.fun. $BUOY balance should appear within a few seconds.

Go to BUOY and link
Now follow PATH A from step 1. The flow is identical from this point — BUOY doesn't care which app created the wallet, only that you can sign with it.
After exporting, both pump.fun AND Phantom hold the same key. If you want a clean separation, create a brand-new wallet in Phantom and send all your $BUOY to it. The old key (still on pump.fun + the imported copy) becomes irrelevant.
Quick answers
What does "read-only" actually mean?
BUOY only asks Phantom to sign a short text message — the same way you'd sign a letter. No transaction is broadcast, no token approval is granted, your private key never leaves Phantom. We verify the signature server-side to confirm the wallet is really yours, then forget about it.
Why does BUOY need my wallet at all?
Two things only: (1) compute your $BUOY balance for Crew / Captain tier-gating, and (2) overlay John's risk scores onto whatever tokens you hold so we can warn you about positions going AVOID. Both read-only.
Can I link more than one wallet?
Not yet — one Solana wallet per BUOY account. If you want to track someone else's wallet (a coin dev, a whale, your own cold-storage), add it on the Wallets tab inside BUOY for dump-alerts via Jennifer.
What happens if I unlink?
Your linked wallet is removed and your tier reverts to Free (unless you have an active Stars subscription). Your watched-token alerts and Jennifer watchlist are kept — they're per-account, not per-wallet. You can relink anytime.
I exported my pump.fun key. Is my pump.fun account broken now?
No — pump.fun still works exactly the same. The wallet just has one extra copy of its key (now living in Phantom too). If you want to clean up, move your $BUOY to a fresh Phantom-only wallet and treat the old pump.fun-managed one as deprecated.
Can BUOY ever send my $BUOY anywhere?
No. The link is signature-only — BUOY never receives any kind of spending permission. Read-only by design, and we can't change that without re-doing the link with a different signature (which we'd never ask you for).
I don't have $BUOY yet. Where do I buy?
Direct from the bonding curve at pump.fun. You can buy with the pump.fun-embedded wallet (then follow PATH B to use it in BUOY), or connect Phantom directly on pump.fun and buy straight to your Phantom wallet (then follow PATH A).
